Tom Brosseau was raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He comes from a family of storytellers and musicians. Instruments lined the walls of the house, his grandfather's record collection of Guy Lombardo and The Inkspots on the turntable. His latest release is "Grand Forks," which in Tom's words is about "the great flood of 1997, homelessness, the love of the sound of the fabulous 50’s/Les Paul and Mary Ford, traveling/keeping the direct sunlight out of your face on the freeway."
Winterpills bring you a tender, filigreed sound, a humming, a buzz, a fragmentation of warmth and chill, a delicate suspension of belief. They are a band playing you songs of pretty losses and hollow hopefulness. They formed on a bare wood floor during a snowy winter when mutual friends met to nurse wounds of various depths, drink, and play other peoples songs, and found they had their own. They now give those to you in all their friendly, angry fragility.
Although Hezekiah Jones is a relatively new name on the Philadelphia scene, his alter-ego Raph Cutrufello has been a member of StillWillis for much longer. 'Hezekiah says you're A-OK' is his debut solo work, which demonstrates a wistful maturity to his work.
