Melina Mercouri and lover Maximilian Schell, backed by a hand-picked team, find their carefully laid plans to lift an emerald dagger from the impenetrable Topkapi Museum in Istanbul bungled by shambling hangeron Peter Ustinov, but then decide to go ahead anyway.

This film is part of the Once Upon a Time in the Middle East series in conjunction with the exhbition Gifts of the Sultan currently on view at LACMA.
