Todd Park, United States Chief Technology Officer and Assistant to President Obama, will discuss how advances in technology will continue to change our healthcare system, create jobs, and improve life for the American people. He will focus on his current work in the U.S. government to "liberate" data to spur entrepreneurship and innovation that improves health care and simultaneously contributes to economic growth.
Todd Park currently serves as the United States Chief Technology Office and Assistant to the President. He joined the Obama administration as Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in August 2009, helping HHS harness the power of data, technology, and innovation to improve the health of the nation’s citizens. Prior to joining HHS, Park co-founded the health IT company Athenahealth and the web-based health care shopping service Castlight. He volunteered as a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, working on health IT and health reform policy. He was also a senior health care advisor to Ashoka, where he helped start Healthpoint Services, a venture to bring affordable telehealth, drugs, diagnostics, and clean water to rural India.
Park graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with an A.B. in economics.
