Toby Lightman released her debut album on Lava Records in March of 2004 and spent the better part of a year on the road, touring with such notable singer/songwriters as Howie Day, Gavin DeGraw, Josh Kelley, and Edwin McCain. But the highlight was an unforgettable opening slot with Prince on his Musicology tour. You also might know Toby from her singles, “Devils and Angels”, and “Real Love”, or from her appearances on Letterman, Conan, Craig Kilborn, the Today Show, and American Dreams.
Toby released her second album, “Bird on a Wire” to good reviews in 2006. Toby then spent 2006 and 2007 on tour with artists like Marc Broussard, Sons of William, Train, Bacon Brothers, Taylor Hicks, Teiture, Carbon Leaf and a trip on the Rock Boat in January 2007. Toby is currently writing new material for her third album.
There's a shocking intimacy to singer-songwriter Aslyn's music. That's not to say that it’s full of titillating sexual imagery or blistering diatribes. Listening to her music, you get the sense that you've stumbled across a trunk full of a stranger's letters and that at any moment you'll be discovered reading them. They reveal the stories behind breakups and betrayals, yet they are buoyant, intoxicated by life and love. They are pure Aslyn.
