Mimi Cohen, through her strong vocal prowess and funny characterizations of real people and events in Laura Nyro's life, illuminates the rite of passage girls experience when becoming women. We girls seem to lose our voices, but Cohen shows one girl who carried on and never lost her voice: Laura Nyro.
