Rock out for a good cause with Hurricane Gumbo and Judge's Night Band! On Thursday, April 28, 2011, both bands will take the audience along for a wild musical ride during a concert benefiting SEASPAR, the South East Association for Special Parks and Recreation, at the Tivoli Theatre, located at 5021 Highland Avenue in Downers Grove, IL. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Catch two great acts while making a difference. Tickets for this special evening are $20 with all the proceeds benefitting SEASPAR. The mission of SEASPAR is to provide recreation programs and services for residents with disabilities. Their vision is to enhance the quality of life for all SEASPAR residents with disabilities by providing excellence in recreation through programs and services.
Judge’s Night Band will be opening the night with their fun-filled musical parodies. The band was formed 44 years ago by members of the DuPage County Bar Association for the express purpose of performing musical spoofs of songs designed to poke fun at the DuPage County Judiciary in a show aptly named "Judge's Nite." Most members of the band have deep roots in Downers Grove and DuPage County. The band members are made up mostly of licensed, practicing attorneys and one sitting Circuit Court Judge.
Following Judge’s Night Band will be the eight-piece Chicago band, Hurricane Gumbo. It’s “All Mardi Gras, All of the Time” with Hurricane Gumbo, who produces the sound of New Orleans-style zydeco, rhythm & blues, jazz and funk. With Hurricane Gumbo, the party never stops. That is why one reviewer calls it “without a doubt, one of the best and liveliest party-bands anywhere.” Check out the band’s website at www.hurricanegumbo.net. At the close of the concert, SEASPAR will adapt a Classic Cinemas tradition and pass out theatre mints as guests exit.
Tickets will be available for purchase at Anderson’s Bookshop in Downers Grove, located at 5112 Main St., or contact Lisa Rasin of SEASPAR at (630) 960-7600.
