Downers Grove, IL – Warm up your vocal cords and break out the nun’s habits, because the 1965 classic Julie Andrews musical is just the starting point for the “Sing-A-Long Sound of Music.” Hosted by the After Hours Film Society, this audience-interactive extravaganza is scheduled for Monday, May 14, 2012 at 7PM, located at the Tivoli Theatre, at 5021 Highland Avenue in downtown Downers Grove. Tickets are $18 and are available at the Tivoli Theatre Box Office or online at www.classiccinemas.com.
Audiences at more than 3000 screenings in nine countries have yodeled, hissed at the conniving Baroness and cheered Maria’s every move in this G-rated “Rocky Horror”-style send-up. Plan to sing along with the classic tale of an Austrian nun who leaves the convent to care for a widowed Naval officer and his seven children. Rest assured, there are subtitles for those who don’t remember every word to “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” or “Do-Re-Mi.” The night will begin with a vocal warm-up led by the evening’s host, who will also take the audience through the complimentary “magic moments pack,” containing various props to be used at strategic points during the film. This sing-a-long film is preceded by a “fancy dress” costume contest where audience members who have come in costume are invited onto the stage to showcase their fantastic outfits.
Proceeds from this event will be used to fund the After Hours Film Society’s 2012 Students Short Film and Video Festival.
