Tigard Library Holds First “We Are the World” Cultural Celebration Day October 11, 2009

A wide-ranging cultural event on the eve of Columbus Day will celebrate the first contact between the Old World and the New at The Tigard Public Library. On Sunday, Oct. 11 from noon to 6 p.m., "We Are The World" will feature music and dances celebrating the variety of cultures represented in the Tigard community.

The event begins with an Irish dance and musical performance by Maldon Meehan at noon followed by Zimba Marimba at 2:30 p.m. The Latin American folk artists Grupo Condor will conclude the celebration with a performance at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments representing the desserts of many nations will be served during the afternoon.
