This panel discussion on the training of Tibetan monks, recent brain research on long-term meditators in the Tibetan tradition, and the practice of meditation in the West will include Khen Rinpoche Geshe Kachen Lobzang Tsetan, abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, neuroscientist Richard J. Davidson, director of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds, Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and psychiatrist and Tibetologist Joseph Loizzo, director of the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science. It will be moderated by physician-scientist Bennett M. Shapiro , former executive vice president of Merck Research Laboratories and director of the Mind and Life Institute, an organization that seeks to understand the human mind and the benefits of contemplative practices.
