Tibet House Benefit Auction December 15, 2005

Tibet House US will hold its fourth bi-annual benefit auction at Christie?s Auction House, located at 20 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, on Thursday December 15, 2005 beginning at 6:30 PM. The auction supports Tibet House?s many vital projects and programs that seek to preserve Tibet?s unique and endangered ancient cultural heritage. Dr. Hugo Weihe, Christie?s senior vice president, will serve as the auctioneer for the evening. Cocktails and hors d?oeuvres will be served.

Tickets:
$125.00; junior tickets are $100.00; Preview Reception tickets are $500.00.

Among the many auction items are: art work by Louise Bourgeois, Donald Baechler, Francesco Clemente and Peter Beard; a walk-on part in an upcoming David O. Russell film starring Vince Vaughn and two nights in a suite at L.A.?s Chateau Marmont; an African safari; lunch with Uma and Robert Thurman in New York City; a trip to Bhutan with guest accommodations at an Amanresorts (airfare included); an autographed Sting guitar; a diamond TAG Heuer watch, as well as many other beautiful objects and unique opportunities.

Proceeds from previous auctions, which have drawn between 500 to 600 guests each, were a major source of support for many of Tibet House?s projects and programs that have been established to preserve Tibet?s ancient civilization. In addition, a percentage of past auction income was donated to several related Tibetan organizations. This year Tibet House has pledged to give a portion of the proceeds to the local Tibetan refugee community, the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey, specifically in support of their community center project. Their programs teach children from ages 5-19 Tibetan language, song, dance, painting and Buddhist philosophy in order to help maintain their cultural heritage.
