May is the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. To commemorate the occasion the Thursday Afternoon Film Series will flashback 50 years to Jamestowns 350th anniversary and show films that debuted in 1957. The movies will be screened in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street, at 2 p.m. every Thursday throughout the month. May 24 Funny Face
Funny Face is a diverting musical set in the world of high fashion. A famous photographer (Fred Astaire) turns a beatnik bookstore clerk (Audrey Hepburn) into an elegant model. Stanley Donen directed this couture confection that showcases Paris in the spring, Gershwin tunes and glamorous gowns by Givenchy.
