On thursday nights, the local's jams start at 7pm, scattered in and around the cafe. Once the band starts, if you don't like em, you can always go listen to the regulars on the Amsterdam Walk sidewalks.

Western North Carolina's hottest young bluegrass band the Steep Canyon Rangers are selling out shows from the mountains to the coast of North Carolina. They appear regularly at a variety of venues throughout the Southeast and have also shared their music as far west as Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona in places such as Aspen, Boulder, Durango, Jackson, and Flagstaff. They have performed with nationally known acts such as Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Jimmy Martin, Peter Rowan, Norman Blake, and Ronda Vincent and the Rage.

Recently, the Steep Canyon Rangers were named "The Best New Artist of 2001" by the Prism, located in Charlottesville, VA earning a rare return appearance for the same season and in September of 2002, the band placed first in the bluegrass band competition (as well as sweeping all the firsts in the individual competitions) at the WNC Mountain State Fair.
