CHICAGO: For their first show in their new location (suite 2D, 119 N Peoria, formerly Wendy Cooper), ThreeWalls will mark the occasion with an action packed month of video programming. placing (moving explorations in search of bearings) is a three-part exhibition guest curated by Ruba Katrib, Catherine Forster of LiveBox and Kat Parker and Katie Rashid of Duchess.
Placing is an exhibition of video work that explores ideas of place through Katrib’s suite “art world etiquette” where artists utilize home video aesthetics to form satires and parodies of and about the art world, Forster’s “place in a flat world” which challenges the homogenization of globalization through the poetry, mystery, singularity and history found in the artists’ immediate environs and Duchess’s “pop moves” where artists employ music to critique the music industry and by extension the art world they work in.
Artists featured in the show(s) include: place in a flat world: Sonja Hinrichsen, Rachelle Viader Knowles, Philipp Geist, Brooke White, Jiang Zhi, LiveBox: Inter-Place
Catherine Forster is the founder and director of LiveBox Gallery, a non-for-profit focused on video and new media art. Forster is also a multimedia artist; her work explores identity and the impact of pop culture on individuality.
