Parents considering the daunting challenge of paying for higher education will find answers in a free presentation, Making the Grade: Saving for College 101, on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street. The presentation is free of charge and reservations are not needed.
With college costs increasing at twice the rate of inflation, parents will need to carefully plan in order to afford a college education. David Chin, a Financial Planning Specialist with SmithBarney, will discuss long-range college saving options. He'll cover the ins and outs of 529 plans, Education Savings Accounts and recent legislation that affects grandparents who want to help with their grandkids' education. He will also discuss strategies for families who haven't been able to save, and are facing financial crisis as the college years approach. This program is for educational purposes only and no solicitations will be made. There will be time for questions after the presentation.
