K Space Contemporary proudly presents its fourth annual juried exhibition, Third Coast National, drawing artists from as far as San Francisco, CA and Athens, GA. This non-thematic exhibition utilizing artistic mediums such as photography, painting, sculpture, film, and graphic design will be on view from October 16th through November 20th.
Juror Trenton Doyle Hancock is a Houston based artist raised in Paris, Texas. In 2007 he was recipient of the Joyce Alexander Wein Artist Prize from the Studio Museum in Harlem has shown in exhibitions nationally and internationally, including the 2000 and 2002 Whitney Biennials. Solo exhibitions of his work in have been mounted at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston; the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth; the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. He has also shown internationally at the Lyon and Istanbul Biennials. One of his newest works resides at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.
A gallery talk by Trenton Doyle Hancock will take place at 6 pm. Admission with refreshments is free. Also opening this evening: Suspension Series by Ryan Howell in the Art Star Gallery and Men in Black and White by Jim Caldwell in the 3rd Floor Hot Spot Gallery.
