Thinking Economically with Dr. Arthur Laffer May 7, 2008

Host: Texas Public Policy Foundation. Named one of “The Century’s Greatest Minds” by TIME Magazine, Art Laffer is an economist, inventor, professor, entrepreneur and political commentator. His economic and political insights continue to have impact. As headlines reference the state of the U.S. economy and the 2008 Presidential race, this presentation could not be more timely.

Dr. Laffer was President Ronald Reagan’s chief economic adviser. The Laffer Curve, which graphically showed that cutting taxes would actually increase tax revenue, was deemed by TIME Magazine to be “one of the few advances that powered this extraordinary century.” His supply-side work helped trigger a world-wide tax cutting movement in the 1980’s.

Dr. Laffer received a B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1963. He received a MBA and a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in 1965 and 1971 respectively. He is founder and Chairman of Laffer Associates, an economic consulting and research firm. He also serves on the boards of several public and private companies.
