TO CAVE CREEK’S THIEVES MARKET

If you’re looking for a flea market experience reminiscent of the coolest estate or tag sale you’ve ever attended, mark your calendars for the first Saturday of each month from 6am until noon when Cave Creek’s Thieves Market takes place.

Located behind Big Earl’s Greasy Eats, 6135 E. Cave Creek Road, the outdoor event has been tremendously successful since its inception in May. Thousands of shoppers have made their way to the funky town located just minutes north of Phoenix to look for deals that simply can't be found elsewhere.

The shopping is amazing. Event organizers seek out and hand-select vendors who offer unique and one-of-a-kind items that are either hand-made or hard to find. Adding to the mix are one-time only sellers that are cleaning out their closets, garages and homes, making the event a treasure hunter's paradise.

Shoppers who have a passion for home interiors like Stephanie McNeely of Carefree, say they have found the best kept shopping secret in the Valley. “It reminds me a little of the flea markets in Paris and New York,” said McNeely who has frequented many of the largest flea markets in the world. “I have found furniture and accessories at Thieves Market that are a perfect complement to any design theme, ranging from contemporary to antique,” she said.

Cave Creek merchants also participate and offer sidewalk sales and special savings at their retail locations to coincide with Thieves Market. Level 9 Gallery is just one of the participating galleries along the town’s main thoroughfare. Known for an eclectic selection of contemporary work including artful furniture pieces like Max Gottschalk chairs, the gallery is located at 6074 E. Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek.
