Free Mercury Fever Thermometer Exchange!
Bring your glass mercury fever thermometer to Southside Community and Senior Center between 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and exchange it for a digital thermometer. Limit one free digital thermometer per household. Mercury is toxic and can cause damage to the nervous system, brain, kidneys, liver and immune systems in humans and animals. For the exchange, please double bag your mercury thermometers using two sealed plastic bags to prevent spills. This event is sponsored by the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant, the cities of Santa Clara and San Jose, and the Bay Area Pollution Prevention Group. Get a free reusable shopping bag, help reduce plastic pollution, and learn to recycle properly. (Limit one per household. While supplies last.)
