The Yorinks Theater Group presents "There's No Place Like Home" Festival, a week long schedule of events to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the publication of Baum’s American literary classic and to shed light on the plight and growing number of homeless children and families in New York City.
The Festival’s main event will be the debut of an original multimedia theatrical adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz conceived by Arthur Yorinks and Mark Stanley. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz premieres Tuesday, November 23 at Kaufman Center’s Merkin Hall—five performances of the production bookend the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Following each performance, there will be a post-performance “talk back” curated by Michael Patrick Hearn, author of The Annotated Wizard of Oz. Confirmed special guests include Jane Lahr (daughter of Burt Lahr, Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz film), among others. Additional celebrity guests will be confirmed throughout October.
A portion of the tickets sales from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will go to the Coalition for the Homeless.
