Side-splitting comedy!
Cape Town?s longest running live show, TheatreSports, has become a tradition as it continues to delight audiences at Artscape.
Theatresports has been performed in Cape Town since 1993, making it Cape Town's longest running show. You can see Theatresports at Artscape's On The Side any Tuesday or Thursday night at 20h30 for a mere R30 (R25 for students and children).
Theatresports is improvised comedy. The show takes the form of a competition between two teams of professional actors that play out a series of games. You might see a Shakespeare set in a laundromat or a Boyband song about tax evasion... the show is always unique, audience-friendly and hilarious. Audience members can voluntarily shout out suggestions for the actors to incorporate into the scenes - no one is ever picked on nor forced to participate.
The Cape Town group Improvision is the only group in Africa licensed to play Theatresports by Keith Johnstone's International Theatresports Institute. The current regular actors include the group founder and boss Megan Choritz, Fiona du Plooy, Nicole Franco, Jess Taylor, Nicholas Spagnoletti, Candice D'Arcy, Brett Anderson, Iain North, Leon Klingman, Monika Roese and Ryan Jales. Godfrey Johnson and Sigrun Paschke alternate on the piano.
Every Tuesday and Thursday
