THEATREFICATION is the event that will launch the centennial celebration of Los Angeles’ historic Broadway District, featuring two original contemporary musicals that will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the majestic Million Dollar Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
While it could be defined as the reinvention of musical theatre by the resident artists of Los Angeles for the purpose of evolving the genre to the specifications of today’s audience, some hard-core Los Angeles theatre artists might say that THEATREFICATION is an affront to the established traditions of New York theatre. This celebration of theatre and the arts in Los Angeles showcases two short-form works of musical theatre written and composed by Los Angeles artists Helene Federici and David J.
The evening of THEATREFICATION will begin with an exhibition of live art, the premiere of David J’s “The Chanteuse and the Devil’s Muse”, a guest DJ spinning through intermission, which will be followed by the reprisal of Helene Federici’s “ET Mostavy”, and will conclude with an after-party with artist and DJ Shepard Fairey.
