The latest addition to the hilarious NUNSENSE series of musicals is Playwright and Composer Dan Goggin’s NUNSET BOULEVARD, THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL SHOW. Making its Chicago area premiere April 28, with press opening Sunday, May 1 at 7 p.m., NUNSET BOULEVARD will run through May 29 at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. NUNSET BOULEVARD follows the irrepressible Little Sisters of Hoboken as they receive the news that they have been invited to sing at the Hollywood Bowl. They are thrilled at the prospect until they arrive and realize they are booked at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama instead. The comedy mounts when the nuns learn that a famous movie producer is across the street auditioning actresses for his new movie musical, "NUNSET BOULEVARD: A Song from the Hart," about the life of Dolores Hart, the famous movie star who became a nun.
Directed and Choreographed by Stacey Flaster, this side splitting production stars Felicia Fields as “Sister Hubert” (A Joseph Jefferson Award recipient and Tony Award Nominee for Best Featured Actress in Broadway’s THE COLOR PURPLE, also earning her a 2006 Theatre World Award, a Clarence Derwent Award, two Broadway.com awards, an NAACP nomination and a Denver Post Ovation Award. Led by Artistic Director William Pullinsi, the Musical Direction is by Bill Underwood. The design team for NUNSET BOULEVARD includes Scenic Designer Stephen Carmody, Lighting Designer Denise Karczewski, Sound Designer Barry G. Funderburg, Costume Designer Brenda Winstead, Wardrobe Supervisor Alice Broughton, Wig Designer Kevin Barthel and Props Designer Libby Fandrei. The Stage Manager is Rebecca Green and Technical Director is Ann Davis.
Theatre at the Center offers some Nunsensational Special Events for a great way to enhance the theatre-going experience. A Wine Tasting & Theatre event will be held on Friday, April 29. Enjoy delectable wines from all over the world right in The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, while chatting with members of the Theatre at the Center artistic team. An assortment of hors d’oeuvres will be served to complement each of the wines. The tasting will take place at 6:30pm with the performance at 8pm. The 2nd Saturday Symposia will take place on Saturday, May 7 at 1pm or 6:30pm. Delight in a wonderful pre-show discussion with the writer, composer and lyricist of NUNSET BOULEVARD – Dan Goggin. This event may be added to the ticket price for free, however reservations are required.
A Hollywood or Bust Dinner/Theatre event will take place on Thursday, May 19. The dinner will be served from 5pm – 7pm with a 7:30pm performance. This total night out includes a sumptuous dinner with lots of surprises and may be added to each theatre ticket for $20 per person.
