Independent publishing provides a much need-ed creative and political intervention into ourmedia landscape. The Zine UnBound: Kults,Werewolves and Sarcastic Hippies looks at inde-pendently produced artists? publications as amodel of collaborative activity as well as analternative exhibition space. The collective spiritof three noteworthy zines is profiled here: K48,based in Brooklyn, New York, Werewolf Express,based in Los Angeles, and Hot & Cold, based inOakland. Selected art works and new commis-sions by the editors and contributors of eachzine will cover the gallery walls, turning theexhibition space into a three dimensional text.Also featured is a historic collection of zinesdating from the 90s, from the archives of note-worthy gay fiction writer and zine publisherDennis Cooper.
