Northfield's Grand Event Center will host an evening of live music with The Zillionaires, the popular and always-danceable local band starring Wendy Smith, David Drentlaw, Peter Nelson, Wendy Nordquist and Vicky Wiegand. The event is presented free of charge courtesy of the Northfield Historical Society, a "thank you" to supporting members and to Grand owner Chuck Pryor for his support of the Northfield community.
The Zillionaires will have the crowd on their feet with a blend of blues, rock and country covers and originals, with a few polkas and waltzes in the mix for good measure. "This is unpretentious dance music," said guitarist and vocalist Wendy Smith. "We're a three-beer band," added drummer David Drentlaw. "Stick around because the music will change. We're not a four-beer bar band. We're just enough of a good time."
Band member and guitarist Peter Nelson played with The Revelators, a Minneapolis band. David and Wendy have played together for years around the midwest and The Zillionaires have played at numerous parties and special events, including The Stockholm Art Fair and the Northfield July 4th Celebration. "We've rehearsed in basements and living-rooms all over the Upper Midwest," added Drentlaw.
"This band is good," said Mary Rossing, NHS Board President. "We're excited to present The Zillionaires to the Northfield community for a night of free music, dancing, festivities and fun." The music starts at 8pm on Saturday, February 26 at The Grand Event Center, 4th and Washington in Northfield. The 21-plus event is free and open to the public. A cash bar and complimentary snacks will be available.
