The Z-Fund Open May 31, 2009

The Zips Athletics Scholarship Fund (Z-Fund) will host the first annual Z-Fund Open on Monday, June 1, 2009, at Glenmoor Country Club – a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The event will feature golf, silent and live auctions and extraordinary spa packages for those more interested in being pampered. The price is $1,400 per golf foursome and $350 per person for the spa package. Each person will receive lunch on the patio overlooking the beautiful golf course as well as dinner in Glenmoor’s magnificent Chapel.

The goal of the Z-Fund Open is to raise $100,000 towards student-athlete summer school tuition in order to keep a competitive edge with other Division I programs. With over 400 student-athletes and summer school fees reaching over $400,000 this year alone, it is imperative we strive to raise additional dollars not included in our annual budget.

The Z-Fund is also looking for Zips fans that are interested in donating any items to the silent and live auctions. Some ideas include airline tickets or reward miles/vouchers, vacation packages, electronics, jewelry, gift certificates and autographed memorabilia. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and is tax deductible.

Supporting this event allows The University of Akron student-athletes the opportunity to pursue their dreams both in the classroom and on their playing fields. Involvement by the Akron community creates these life-changing experiences that will continue to impact their lives for years to come.
