The Yuval Ron Ensemble
September 21, 2005 | 7:00 PM | Alfred Newman Recital Hall
General Public: $15
USC Faculty/Staff, Senior Citizens: $10
USC Students w/ Valid ID: $5
The ensemble?s performance, as spiritual as it is diverse, is inspired by Ron?s vast knowledge of the history and culture of the people at the heart of the group?s focus. The program is a collaboration that honors the sacred musical traditions of Judaism, Sufism (Islamic mystical tradition) and the Christian Armenian Church. A composer and world-music record producer, Ron discusses the ancient and deep inter-cultural connection between the three traditions and the musical influences they share.
This performance is part of the World Festival of Sacred Music taking place in Los Angeles September 17-October 2. It features 1,000 artists and 43 sacred events of music and movement over 16 days, in venues all over the Los Angeles area -- crossing neighborhoods, cultural, religious and ideological boundaries in the spirit of world peace.
"A powerful and deeply moving afternoon...the music and dance filled the space and the emotions welled up through the trees and out the top of the building...into the universe for good will, peace and harmony."
--Judi Mitoma, Director of the World Festival of Sacred Music
