Henry VIII, father of Queen Elizabeth, greatly remade England. Chivalric and musical, yet warlike and bullying, he patronised Erasmus and artist Hans Holbein, built palaces, had six wives, changed England's religion, and executed Thomas More, writer of Utopia. The course will cover this, plus how the Tudor dynasty was founded by Henry VII, his father, after the Wars of the Roses. We conclude with the Protestant boy King, Edward VI.
