The Women of Lockerbie is inspired by the terrorist bombing of a Pan Am commercial airliner in December 1988 and its aftermath. It chronicles the journey of a couple from New Jersey, whose son was one of the passengers, to Lockerbie, as well as the remarkable crusade of the women of Lockerbie to claim and wash the clothes of the victims as a gesture of communal healing and closure. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, it is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.
