Get a taste of Mardi Gras in summertime! Thrilling audiences with their upbeat music and ornate costumes, the Wild Magnolias are an ebullient example of the mania that envelops New Orleans on Fat Tuesday. Well known for their on-stage flamboyance and funky roots music, the ensemble not only brings fans to their feet but also celebrates the life and culture of the Mardi Gras Indians-originally a secret society of African Americans that battled segregation in the late 1800s and whose name pays tribute to the Native Americans who assisted runaway slaves before emancipation.
