WHAT IS THE WIG PARTY?
The Wig Party is a private annual charity event, organized by a voluntary group of entrepreneurs and friends, that raises approximately £50,000 a year for children orphaned by HIV in Zambia. Working with our beneficiary, the HIV & Aids charity Crusaid and their Points of Light projects in Africa, we are on target to build an orphanage in the Katete township. Last year Leona Lewis and the Sugarbabes’ Keisha Buchanan attended, among many other celebrities.
Existing sponsors include MAC cosmetics, L’Oreal, Diageo and Selfridges. The carnival style party, held at London’s Café de Paris, has developed a reputation as the event for London’s fashion forward cognoscenti, attended by an eclectic mix of high earning professionals, creatives, designers, fashion students, theatre grads and early adopters. At last year Leona Lewis and the Sugarbabes’ Keisha Buchanan attended, among many other celebrities.
Every year the party theme changes, this year it is Space.
OUR AIMS
The Wig Party has been going for fifteen years and grown exponentially from a private house party into a destination event for 600 people. Last year, the biggest ever, raised £46,000 and was reported across national press including The Daily Mail and Grazia magazine.
We are looking to make the Wig Party 2010 the biggest ever. Ticket sales and VIP tables are the main revenue stream. We want a larger venue, a bigger audience, to move the event from a Sunday evening to a Saturday night and beat all previous fundraising targets – all have cash implications. Ultimately we want the Wig Party to become an international fundraising brand.
