SSCC play asks: "What if universe is some nerd's science project?"

The Southern State Community College theatre department, in collaboration with the college's winter quarter Drama Practicum class, will present Rich Orloff's "The Whole Shebang" 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium, SSCC Central Campus, Hillsboro. The comedy will show for one night only and admission is free.

"The Whole Shebang" asks the question, "What if the entire universe is just some nerd's science project?" In a classroom in a dimension far beyond ours, a student (played by Jamie McCoy) striving for a master-of-the-universe degree, delivers an oral presentation on an unusual thesis: the creation of heaven and earth. Two professors and a dean (Joey Haas, A.J. Yourkvitch and Reid Lyle) interrogate the student and her two visual aids, a "typical" man and woman (Daniel Bragdon and Katie Cavendish). The SSCC theatre production also features the voice of Josh Keidel.

"The Whole Shebang" is directed by Rainee Angles and stage-managed by Amanda Ray, with other crew positions filled by Amando Castro, Jennifer Graves, Laila Joel, Josh Keidel and Jason Sharrett.

Southern State's Drama Practicum course requires students to participate as actors, designers, managers or crew members in an SSCC theatre production. Areas of production include acting, stage management, dramaturgy, publicity, house, lighting, sound, set, prop, costumes and make-up.
