The Wheelman's Machine January 31, 2009

This exhibit chronicles bicycle’s first century development. Produced in cooperation with the Massachusetts division of The Wheelmen bicycle club, with images and text (David Herlihy, author) from the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum past exhibit “The Bicycle Takes Off,” this new exhibit “The Wheelman’s Machine” features advertisements, photographs, other ephemera, and of course early bicycles. Visitors will wind their way through the entertaining and sometimes absurd history of what some have called the most efficient machine ever made.
