Elements of Good Design - Style and Color Concepts - Lighting and Accessories - Plan it and Do it!
Are you one of those avid fans of HGTV or DIY TV shows, always in awe when you see a designer creating an incredible makeover in a home or commercial space? Have you ever tried to "do it yourself" but felt completely overwhelmed by the myriad of choices regarding paint, finishes, furnishings, accessories, etc. Do you have an idea of what you like and want but do not feel confident about how to properly do it yourself?
In this seminar you will learn how to get started with your project to make sure you have a successful outcome. Topics included will be, how to come up with a concept for your space, how to properly measure your space and how to figure out what is the best place to put your furnishings, etc.
In this 2-session (each session is 3 hours), class participants will be able to learn a step-by-step approach to re-decorating and designing a room in their homes utilizing tried and true, yet accessible principles of good design. This class will give participants an overall introduction to the elements that they need to know when they are wanting to tackle an interior design project in their homes.
This class is intended for the home owner who is a serious do-it-yourselfer, or for those who want to learn more about interior design and what it is all about. This class has a strong experiential component and students will have the opportunity to utilize an actual room in their homes that they are wishing to work on, to get feedback, ideas and guidance.
Some of the topics include:
-How to recognize and put in practice important elements and principles of good design.
-How to develop a design concept for a room in your home or business
-How to choose a decorating style and color scheme that best suits your style and needs.
