The Wailin Jennys combine three extraordinary voices with heart-stopping harmonies that make new songs feel traditional and old songs sound brand new. Theyre returning to western Washington for the first time since their sold-out concert at the Lincoln in April 2008. Theyll be performing both a matinee and an evening show. Members of The Wailin Jennys are soprano Ruth Moody (guitar, banjo, accordion, bodhran), mezzo-soprano Nicky Mehta (guitar, harmonica, ukulele, percussion), alto Heather Masse (upright bass) and instrumentalist Jeremy Penner (fiddle and mandolin). Both The Jennys as a group, and their alto Heather Masse solo, have been frequent musical guests on Garrison Keillors radio show A Prairie Home Companion. The group was founded in Winnipeg in 2002. They have won a Juno (the Canadian Grammy), and have played sold-out shows throughout North America, the UK, Europe and Australia. The Jennys third full-length album, Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, was released in August 2009 and demonstrates why Jennys concerts routinely draw raves from audiences and critics alike. Heather Masses solo album, Bird Song, was released in November 2009, and has also drawn critical acclaim. Both Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House and The Jennys 2006 CD Firecracker are available at the Mount Vernon City Library. Presented By: Tin Hut Concerts.
