The Voodoo Chalk Circle April 29, 2011

The State Theatre presents 'The Voodoo Chalk Circle' by Chelsea Marcantel, adapted from 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle' by Bertolt Brecht. On the eve of Grusha's 21st birthday, a hurricane strikes New Orleans. Along with the physical calamity the storm leaves behind, the social structures of the city also erode. In their place, long-buried and ancient traditions rise from the mire, and everything that was old is new again. Brecht gets a piercing rewrite in Chelsea Marcantel's new adaptation.
