THE UNTOLD HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, 2012, 120 min. Whether it's the Vietnam War, 9/11 or presidential politics, no director has trod more fearlessly through the minefields of our country's recent past than Oliver Stone. The latest from the iconoclastic Oscar winner is THE UNTOLD HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, which premieres on Showtime on November 12. The 10-episode documentary series traces the United States' journey from WWII to the present, taking aim at conventional wisdom about such figures as Hitler and Eisenhower and highlighting significant accomplishments by people who never reached headline status. Join us for a sneak peek at this provocative program, featuring two of its one-hour episodes (“Chapter 1: World War II, The Birth of the American Empire, Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin” and “Chapter 3: The Bomb.”) Discussion following with Oliver Stone, moderated by Robert Scheer. Stone and historian and series co-creator Peter Kuznick will sign the companion book, The Untold History of the United States, in the Aero lobby at 6:45 PM. This screening is first come, first served, with a suggested donation of $10. No tickets will be sold.
