Through the high-tech wizardry of black light and electroluminescent wire, two great storytellers—Hans Christian Anderson and Aesop—literally light up the stage, as their characters glow, float, fly, appear, and disappear as if by magic. In the tale of The Ugly Duckling, children learn about personal transformation and acceptance through a young bird searching for friends to love him for who he really is. Another famous 'underdog' story, The Tortoise and the Hare, reminds us that “slow and steady wins the race.” Along with the stunning visual effects, the performance features puppetry, narration, dance, and music in a variety of styles.
Presidents Day is Family Day! Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of family-friendly entertainment! Adding to the festival atmosphere is our unique venue—the Hub City Big Top—set up on Livingston Avenue in front of the State Theatre. Under the Big Top families can enjoy food, FREE face painting and balloon animals, live characters from popular children’s shows, and more.
