Why are The Substitutes different? Because they are trying to recreate that 60's excitement and rawness that often gets lost with cover bands. Listen to a Dave Davies guitar solo or a Keith Moon drum fill and know that the 60's were about experimentation and shock, not just good pop melodies.

The Substitutes play the best of the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Animals, Small Faces, Zombies, Yardbirds, Pretty Things, Spencer Davis Group, Manfred Mann, Them, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, Dylan et al exactly like the record but with great passion and many of the stories behind the songs.

The band features the soaring vocals and psychedelic guitar work of Dennis Millar (ex 70's legends Buster Brown), Pete Robinson (The Strangers & Blacksmith Hopkins) and Peter Reed (New Dream, Gary Young, Phil Manning bands) in the backline, and the punk energy of Peter Summers on guitar and keyboards (Riverina Playboys & Strange Idols).
