The Studio as Muse: the Studio in Miniature: Joe Fig June 14, 2007

Joe Fig (American b. 1968) is a young Long Island artist who has taken the idea of the artist's studio and has made it the primary subject of his work. Fig creates miniaturized replicas of the studios of some well-known artists, both past and present. At once an homage and a thoroughgoing investigation, Fig's miniature worlds replicate in obsessively accurate detail every tangible fact of the artist's studio from the bottle of Evian on the floor to the brand name can of turpentine on the painting table.
