Steve Reid is a real trailblazer – as Gilles Peterson says of the drummer, ‘having accompanied the greatest of the greats, from James Brown via Miles Davis to Sun Ra, Steve has also remained one of the true independent innovators’.
He’s been working closely with Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet, and together they will premiere material from their new Domino album Daxaar, featuring the Senegalese musicians who created what Gilles called ‘a rhythmic feast for those who like their jazz out there’.
Gilles went as far as to record the massive forces of The Heritage Orchestra, which combines strings, horns and irresistible beats.
The mighty Heritage are working on epic new material from Ninja Tunes’ radical DJ/sampler Amon Tobin, Cinematic Orchestra's Stuart McCallum, and Heritage conductor and leading light Jules Buckley himself.
