Formed in 1965 in San Francisco, the Steve Miller Band's brand of bluesy rock 'n' roll includes such gems as 'The Joker,' 'Fly Like an Eagle' and ' 'Take the Money and Run.' The Doobie Brothers are pioneers of the California rock 'n' roll sound of the '70s. Formed in Oakland, the band evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, they racked up a string of gold and platinum albums, along with a number of radio hits like 'Listen to the Music,' 'Black Water' and 'China Grove.'
