The StereoFidelics blend jazz-influenced improvisation with their art rock melodies and extreme instrumental choreography to deliver an exciting show for both the eyes and ears. By showcasing their multi-instrumental capability, these two talented musicians are able to operate completely as a duet and deliver a full sound. The StereoFidelics consist of Chris Padgett (acoustic and electric guitars, keyboard, synthesizer, synth bass, live loops, and vocals) and Melissa McGinley (electric violin, drums, and vocals).
Since releasing their first EP in early 2007, The StereoFidelics have firmly established themselves in the musical hotbed of Asheville, NC. Their infectious sound and energetic performances have earned them performances in such prestigious venues as The Orange Peel (voted one of the top 10 venues in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine) and The Grey Eagle Music Hall. The StereoFidelics have done intense promoting of their music outside of Asheville as well; touring extensively throughout the southeast, midwest, west coast, mountain west, and into the northeast during the summer of 2007 and all of 2008. After much anticipation, they released their debut album, Only Sleeping on Rubberneck Records in December ‘08 and will be back on the road most of 2009.
Relying on their incredible musicianship, organic harmonies, and spontaneous instrumental creativity, they perform with the unmistakable emotional attachment of co-creators. “They…do the proverbial in creating something greater than the sum of its parts” (Dave Carter, WETS-FM). The Stereofidelics have the energy of Bluegrass, the seduction of Latin, the freedom of Jazz and the raw passion of Hard Rock driven by instinctive virtuosity and musicianship.
