The real Maria Von Trapp is said to have enjoyed the play, hated the movie, and thought Petula Clark at age 51 was the best Maria ever.
Literally millions of people have fallen in love with this musical story loosely based on the story of the Von Trapp family. And Magic Circle Theatre is bringing it back to the stage on Jan. 11, 2008.
There’s Maria, a novice sent to act as governess to the family of a widowed captain, the mischievous children, the Nazis, young love, older love and deception. And some of the most recognizable music known: Maria, Do Re Mi, Climb Every Mountain and Sixteen Going on Seventeen.
The Sound of Music will play Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Sunday afternoons at 2:00, Jan. 11 - Feb. 23, 2008, in the Roseville Theatre, 241 Vernon St., Roseville. Tickets are $22 - $25 general admission, $20 - $22 seniors and students, $12 - $14 children 11 and under. Call (916) 782-1777 for tickets.
