The Smokin’ Mirrors (blues, fermented soul, rock, R&B, funk) began as Tommy Brown’s conversation with Amanda Gray about forming a – country band, but they couldn’t leave the Delta Blues.
So: Tommy Brown on guitar and steel “Blues Machine” guitar, harmonica and vocals. Tommy writes great tunes and draws from soul and essential blues roots, delivering strong emotion and moves grooves. Honoring the greats and greatness in deep funk-ay rock tradition, Tommy abides. Old school Comptche resident.
Amanda Gray, lifelong singer of many musical styles, from a musical family. Transplant (to Mendocino) from Humboldt County. Alter ego is a schoolmarm. A singers singer. Clear, sweet tone, projection and honest delivery without artifice or over embellishment; you can feel the spirit - and the fun.
Peter White, Albion National Drum Corps founding member and student, limber jazz-rock drumming into smooth silky R&B funk delivery and heartbeat pounding rhythm. Peter is a volunteer from Brown Brothers, White Brothers, RogerWood and other combustible acts.
Sean Connolly plays, yeah, smokin’ keyboards and sings some rockin’ vocals. He embodies Detroit to Delta Blues, which you can see as he leans into boogie-woogie, rockin riff rolls, or New Orleans-style street beats. Intense, focused; soloing and blending nicely.
Hugh Connolly, jumping jack bass, really knows how to have, share and get out the fun in funk. A flair for harmonic style vocals and deep low grooves. "Serving the community, Hugh and Sean are (sometimes) the Black Connollys." Fort Bragg homeslices.
Catch’em when you can… where there’s smoke there’s fire!
