The Clean Technology Alliance is proud to present a special event hosted by noted expert Jesse Berst of GlobalSmartEnergy to chronicle the rapid growth of Smart Grid technology, to forecast what's next and to point out the profit opportunities for regional businesses.
Even in the current economic turmoil, the Smart Grid has emerged as one of the country's most vibrant sectors. Like the Internet and the telecommunications networks before, the electric power infrastructure is evolving into a smart, digital, two-way network. What's more, it is part of a larger trend -- the transition from a petroleum economy to an electricity economy.
"Some of the world's most prestigious venture capital firms are placing multi-million dollar bets in the Smart Grid space," notes Berst, whose firm publishes SmartGridNews.com, the sector's leading Web site. "In addition, companies such as Google, General Electric, Intel and Cisco are entering in a big way."
The sector is in the "tornado phase," says Berst "when new companies and new fortunes will be made." The key is to know where the market is headed. For that reason, CTA has assembled a panel of industry and scientific experts to discuss what lies ahead. Berst will lead a "gap analysis" to pinpoint where the market still has unmet needs that local companies can fill.
"CTA is committed to introducing the country's top venture investors to the great cleantech companies that are emerging in the Northwest. We believe that the Northwest has a strategic advantage in the market for cleantech solutions and in supporting the success of those smaller organizations the established companies in the area concerned with these issues all benefit ," said Tom Sedory, Director IT Corporate Responsibility at Nike and chairman of the group.
This is a must-attend event for energy professionals, tech executives, and business leaders interested in the opportunities that surround a newer, smarter electrical grid.
