THE SKIN I LIVE IN, 2011, 117 min. The latest film from Pedro Almodovar reunites him with star Antonio Banderas, who plays a plastic surgeon inspired to develop an artificial skin after his wife burned to death. He perfects his discovery on a female patient (Elena Anaya) held captive at his estate - but neither the woman nor her motivations are quite what they seem. Described by Almodovar as "a horror story without screams or frights," the film crawls with the byzantine plot twists, perversity and dark humor for which its writer-director is famous.
