Author Rachel Stolzman will be appearing at Books on the Square in Providence to read from her novel The Sign for Drowning—out in paperback June 9. It's a tender and poignant story of healing from a childhood loss--reminiscent of A Map of the World and The Deep End of the Ocean. Rachel's debut novel explores the frailty of family bonds, the limitations of language, and the ephemeral beauty of life. With intimate precision, Stolzman portrays one woman's fear of loss—and longing for love—while exploring the deeper secrets of a family's grief.
Rachel is an MFA graduate from Sarah Lawrence College. While writing this book, she studied sign language and worked with the deaf.
