The Shells - debut Philadelphia show January 3, 2010

The Shells are one of the hottest new groups out of New York City with their fresh blend of pop and country music that they’ve coined as “cosmo country”. They are a female trio consisting of young vocalists Carrie Welling, Melanie Klaja, and Jessica Rae Waltz whose tight three-part harmonies mark their signature sound. 2009 has been a banner year for these lovely ladies, with the release of their debut album “Written Roads” this past October which has been getting rave reviews. Skope Magazine says, “Listening to Written Roads, you’ll find beautiful vocals, stunning 3-part harmonies, empowering lyrics, not to mention the layers of the instrumental side. Yes, these women are country, but don’t let that fool you...when you listen you just know that these women are special.” So special that MTV took notice and named them one of the top 3 Best Breakout Artists in New York City of 2009! The Shells also made their Nashville debut this winter performing at the famous 12th & Porter nightclub where they were featured on the Billy Block show and broadcast live on WKDF 103 FM.
