Michael Aurbach is a native of Wichita and a professor of Art at Vanderbilt University. A colleague once told him "you never know who a person really is until they have been placed in a position of power." That comment changed his way of looking at the world. Aurbach's sculptures address identity, socially disenfranchised groups and the dark side of human behavior. They have been described as an over-sized mouse trap, manufactured dwellings and fantasy machines full of symbols.
