Since 1916 when Einstein realised that his new theory of gravity permitted wave solutions, scientists and engineers have been attempting to detect these "Gravity Waves". A detection would be of importance to our understanding of Physics and how the four universal forces relate to one another as well as opening a completely new way for us the observe the Universe. Detectors are now operational in several countries and reaching new levels of sensitivity. A first detection may be within a few years.
